Despite its success, Ford continued to downsize the Thunderbird for emissions concerns and greater fuel efficiency, leading to a redesign for 1980. Over the three year production lifespan of the seventh generation Thunderbird, over 955,000 examples were built making it the most successful in sales history. New options for 1979 included an AM/M stereo radio with cassette, ultra-soft leather/vinyl upholstery, a 27.5-gallon fuel tank, and mud/stone deflectors. The Town Landau, priced approximately $2,000 below the Heritage Edition and $3,000 above the base model of $5,875, had a color-keyed hood ornament, cast-aluminum wheels with accent paint, wide vinyl-insert bodyside moldings, and brushed aluminum wrapover applique. The well appointed interiors were finished with 36-ounce cut-pile carpeting, leather-wrapped steering wheel, driver's lighted visor vanity mirror, sports instrument panel with tachometer and gauges, and split bench seats in soft velour cloth. The full width taillamps were replaced by large rectangular units positioned on either side of a single backup lamp. Vinyl top is in great shape with no signs of bubbling. Original gaskets are still in good shape. Paint is in good shape, does show it's age. This car doesn't appear to have any paintwork done to it. A/C blows cold! This has a 5-digit odometer and it reads 23,843 miles, cannot confirm to be original.
MSD EFI, Nicely equipped with power steering, power brakes, and A/C. Different exhaust accentuating that rebuilt 302. Few thousand miles ago, the 302 was pulled out of the car and rebuilt with a mild cam.
